Ieva Mikutaite is a graduate of The Glasgow School of Art. Her work is inspired by dandelion seeds and the transformation that lies within. The story of how it came to life began many years ago when Ieva's father gave her a box of dandelion seeds for her birthday. It started a chain reaction and Ieva's friends and family have been giving her plant seeds ever since. All the seeds used in designer's pieces have been gathered by people who are very dear to her. Ieva's work is a reflection of her feelings and observations. The goal is to take what she has been given and try to create something new in order to give it back to everyone around. She loves exploring kinetics and incorporating elements of movement, transformation, repetition and multiplication into her pieces. Artist seeks to emphasize the fragile and ephemeral nature of things. She is interested in challenging the traditional notion of function.  Her aim is to design and make playful, engaging pieces, inspired by childhood: time when things seem strange and curious, time when almost everything is a game, time when one does not associate certain expectations with certain things. In the eyes of a child objects tend not to have a conventional purpose or limited function. Ieva aims to produce jewellery that can make adults feel the same way, if only for a brief moment.
